MyST (https://mystmd.org) is an open-source markup language designed for scientific documents. Curvenote is Word-style WYSIWYG editor built on top of open-source MyST. Articles written in MyST or Curvenote can be exported to any format including $\LaTeX$, JATS and Word, and are thereby more future-compatible.
